  • How long does it take to get my server set up?

    Server setup normally takes up to 2 working days. Factors contributing to longer setup times may include server add-ons, custom configurations and payment realisation time.

  • Can I upgrade server hardware in future?

    You can upgrade your server to a higher configuration at any time.

  • What can I do with my server?

    Dedicated servers are useful to host high traffic websites, complex applications, ERPs, portals or email systems where a dedicated environment and high level of performance is required.

    You can practically host anything you want to, as long as its within the law and it does not violate our Master Service Agreement & Acceptable Use Policy.

  • Can I host an adult-oriented website?

    No. We do not allow hosting of adult-oriented websites.

  • Can I run any Internet Relay Chat (IRC) software on dedicated server

    No. IRC software of any type is not allowed.

  • Can I use dedicated server to run streaming media services

    Yes. You can run streaming media services.

  • Will I get access to a web based control panel?

    We offer Cpanel and Plesk panels. Both control panels offers extensive features and excellent functionality for managing servers.

  • How many websites can I host?

    You can host as many websites as you want on your server. There are no limits on the number of websites you can host on a dedicated server.

  • Can I create email accounts on my server?

    Yes, you can. You can create & manage email accounts from web based control panel.

  • What is Name Based Hosting? Do I need an IP for each domain on my server?

    Name Based Hosting is a method used to allow a server to host multiple domains with only one IP address. You do not need an IP address for each site. In fact, you only need one IP for the entire server.

  • What levels of Management do you provide?

    IndiaLinks provides Infra Managed, Managed Dedicated & Intensive Managed service levels.

  • Do I get root or administrative privileges?

    Servers with Infra Managed & Managed Dedicated service levels are provided full root or administrative privileges.

    Servers with Intensive Managed service levels are not provided with root/administrative access.

  • Will you help me install my custom software package or 3rd party applications?

    No. You are responsible for installing and maintaining all softwares/applications on your server.

  • What types of applications can I install?

    You are free to install any applications you wish as long as its within the law and they are not in violation of our Master service agreement & AUP.

  • Which ports will be monitored on my server?

    IndiaLinks provides Server Port Monitoring service with all dedicated servers at no extra charge.

    Our system remotely monitors following ports/services at every 5 minutes and will notify you of any service status changes over email.

    Port 80 (HTTP)

    Port 25 (SMTP)

    Port 110 (POP3)

    Port 143 (IMAP)

    Port 21 (FTP)

  • Who is responsible for the server hardware?

    IndiaLinks retains replacement parts for all servers. We are always building new servers, so a full inventory of parts is maintained.

    Hardware failures are uncommon, but they do happen, and are a part of the hosting business. Hardware replacement will begin immediately upon identification of a hardware problem.

    Hardware is defined as the Processor(s), RAM, Hard Disk(s), Motherboard, NIC Card and other related hardware included with server.

  • What happens if server hard drive fails?

    IndiaLinks strongly encourages customers to take regular offsite backups as well as local backups on secondary drive.

    Hard drive failures are uncommon, but they do happen, and are a part of the hosting business.

    Upon identification, we will replace the faulty drive and perform System Reprovisioning.

  • What do you mean by System Reprovisioning?

    A System Reprovisioning is performed when customer does catastrophic damage to their system OS or there is primary hard drive failure.

    During System Reprovisioning, server's primary hard drive will be formatted and server will be reinstalled with new instance of operating system and control panel.

    Please note that, during system reprovisioning, all data on primary hard drive will be lost and customers will be required to restore their data from backups.

  • Will you backup my server?

    No. We do not take backups of your server. You are fully responsible to take backups of your data.

    Its highly recommended that you perform offsite as well as local backups at regular interval.

  • Do you offer RAID?

    Yes. We do offer hardware based RAID as an addon.

  • What is your uptime guarantee?

    IndiaLinks offers 99.9% network uptime guarantee, 100% Power & HVAC uptime guarantee excluding scheduled maintenance.

  • What is your policy on bandwidth?

    Each dedicated server comes with a bandwidth limit. If you exceed your plans monthly allotment, you can purchase additional bandwidth at an affordable price.

  • Do you have allow spamming or bulk mailing?

    No. We do not allow spamming, bulk mailing or any commericial marketing activity from dedicated servers.

  • Who is responsible for the server security?

    We do provide ongoing assistance in securing servers based on subscribed management levels.

    However, we take no responsibility for server security & current/future security leaks. Customers are strongly adviced to take regular offsite backup of all their data.

  • Can I run a firewall on my server?

    Definitely you can and we encourage it. Most OS distributions comes with built-in firewall. You can also install and run 3rd party firewall applications.

  • Can I order additional IP addresses?

    Yes, you can order additional IP addresses at additional cost.

    If you have more than 2 IP addresses, IP justification form may be required. Additional IP addresses will be assigned subject to availability and approval.
